Orthotics

Like the foundation of a house, your feet support everything above them. A small problem with your feet changes how you walk and causes a chain reaction in your posture. Knee, hip or low back pain may be caused by a problem in the biomechanics of your feet. Custom orthotics look like insoles but are biomechanical medical devices that are custom made to your specific needs. Like glasses work for your eyes, custom orthotics make corrections to the workings of your feet. They reduce muscle strain, spread out pressure points and reduce abnormal forces on the ankles, knees, hips and spine. Custom orthotics are fit using a dry foam cast to create a perfect cast of the feet. An.examination of the feet and a postural evaluation also provide valuable information for the creation of your custom orthotics.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of treatment used in both Traditional and Classical Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is based on the principle that there are energetic pathways, or channels, throughout the body that influence associated internal organs and structures. Energy from these pathways surfaces at various points on the body, identified as acupuncture points. Each of these acupuncture points serves as a tunnel, or access route, to the deeper circulatory channels within. Extremely fine gauge needles are inserted at selected points, stimulating these points and thereby activating the body’s natural healing abilities

Massage Therapy

Massage therapists employ a variety of hands-on techniques to assess and treat the soft tissues and joints of the body. Improved circulation of blood and lymph, decreased pain and inflammation, improved mobility, relaxation and stress reduction are all positive effects of therapeutic massage.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a field of medicine that emphasizes normal body mechanics and manipulation to correct faulty body structures, particularly the nerves, muscles, bones and joints.Osteopathic medicine is one of the two health fields nationally recognized as complete schools of medicine. An osteopathic physician, also known as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), diagnoses and treats all illnesses and injuries and emphasizes preventive care. For the treatment of back pain, an osteopath can employ massage and manipulation of the joints in the spine to correct misalignment and encourage self-healing.
